We collect this data when you provide it to us (for example, on registration, at checkout, or when you contact us), automatically as you use the Services (through cookies and similar technologies), and occasionally from third parties such as our payment gateway confirming a transaction. You are not obliged to provide personal data, but some Services cannot be provided without it.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal data to:
- provide, operate and maintain the Services, including delivering practice tests and displaying your results;
- create and administer your account and process your purchases;
- communicate with you about your account, purchases, support requests and important service updates;
- send you marketing and promotional messages where you have consented or where permitted by law — you can opt out at any time;
- understand and analyse how the Services are used, and to improve, personalise and expand them;
- develop new features, products and content;
- detect, prevent and address fraud, abuse, security incidents and technical issues; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. Legal Bases for Processing
Where the law requires a legal basis (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Services you request); consent (for example, for marketing emails or non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time); legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Services, provided these are not overridden by your rights); and legal obligation (such as tax and accounting requirements).
4. Cookies and Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, measure traffic and understand how the Services are used. Essential cookies are required for the site to function; analytics and preference cookies are used to improve the Services. We may use third-party analytics providers that process usage data on our behalf.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the Services work. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — for example, payment gateways, hosting, email delivery, analytics and customer-support tools — and only as needed to provide their services to us;
- Legal and safety reasons — where we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Exametics, our users or others;
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, subject to this Policy; and
- With your consent — where you have asked us to share your data.
6. International Data Transfers
Exametics is operated from India and serves learners in many countries. Your personal data may be processed in India or in other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure your data is protected in line with this Policy and applicable law, including using appropriate safeguards for transfers of data from the EU/UK.
7. Data Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, and thereafter only as long as necessary to comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential and notify us immediately of any suspected unauthorised use of your account.
